On 2654.280, the TCS Tiger's Claw was dispatched to the Rostov System with the mission to defend the system, it's natives, and it's resources from the Empire of Kilrah. The Rostov System contains a profusion of mineral rich asteroids which attracted the kilrathi.

As a first step in this mission, the Tiger's Claw launched a series of recon patrols to gauge the enemies strength in the system. The first one of these patrols was Gamma Wing, flown by Christopher Blair and Michael Casey. The pair navigated a series of asteroid fields and encountered a Dorkir-class Transport carrying supplies, two Dralthi and six Gratha fighters.
