Quick write-up on torpedoes. I wanted to get in the information from Action Stations so it wouldn't get overlooked. Table obviously needs a lot of work and the information comes from an old LiveJournal entry by LOAF. I understand where the Mark IV and Prophecy designations come from but where do the other Mark statistics come from; what's the link? Also, are we absolutely certain that the Prophecy munitions are all fusion warheads, or is this an old fan rationale? - Bob 06:20, 30 August 2010 (CDT)

I don't know where the Lance Mark X designations came from, nor the anti-matter/fusion distinction. From memory, I thought the light torpedo from Secret Ops is called a Lance, not a Lancer, though I could be wrong. Also, we don't know if the Prophecy / Secret Ops torpedoes were used in the Kilrathi War (I would say they weren't, but I won't speculate), so I removed that bit of description. - Wedge

I thought the Mk IV was the "Long Lance." I also don't recall it being the fusion warhead (I thought that was the Mk V seen in WC4 while all others were M/A-M warheads) The Mk IV is the one talked up in FA has being the premier Confed ship-killer. I only recall the torpedo Blair uses to disable to the Lexington in TPOF was a fusion warhead (and there was some discussion about it in the novel). We've also got to come up with some finalized tables for things like this. Something that looks good, is easy to read and is easy to replicate. --Dundradal 07:10, 30 August 2010 (CDT)

I did a run through Fleet Action and found the Mark IV listed as antimatter ("With their increased size the carriers have shield generation systems capable of repulsing nearly any weapon the Confederation now has, including their Mark IV & V antimatter torpedoes", 10), but the Mk. IV is listed as fusion in The Price of Freedom novel ("The warshot struck home a moment later, detonating its multimegaton fusion warhead in a blue-white flash"; "Longbow one-zero-one-four, commanded by Lieutenant Grigsby, fired a single Mark IV antiship torpedo.", 88-89). Doomsday carries three Mark III torpedoes at the Battle of Hell Hole in 2668 (Fleet Action, 231). As for Wing Commander III, the novel, nothing. The only other reference to the Mark V is in TPOF novel, again, with an offhand remark about Paulsen having nursed the Mark V torpedo into production (114).
I cut the III and V marks, given their apparent lack of definitive links to in-game stats. For the record, the Mark III used WingIII stats, and the Mark V Armada ones. The current Mark IV uses WingIV ones. - Bob 17:45, 30 August 2010 (CDT)

I wrote 'recorded' as opposed to 'known' torpedo types considering the in-universe perspective, but whatever. - Wedge

Sorry, didn't catch that! Also, added the Wing III torpedo back in, named simply "Lance". - Bob 04:06, 31 August 2010 (CDT)

Quite detailed, but I wonder about the use of 'klicks' in place of 'kilometres', and even 'klicks/second2' as a whole. Already, the Velocity column uses the abbreviation 'kps'. For clarity's sake, it might be better to use abbreviations, especially given that the text is repeated in all the rows. Similarly for 'seconds' and 'degrees/second'. Just a suggestion. - Wedge
