I'm not sure where a suitable place to discuss general things that aren't specific to a particular article might be, so I'll just write something here for now. I just wanted to say that I plan to use the extra material released for the CIC's birthday to upload some nicer images from WC3, if they happen to be better quality than the digital PC video (still in the process of downloading, servers are understandably burdened immediately after the party). Hopefully, they're not too blurry or fuzzy or heavily compressed. I just wanted to let everyone know in case someone else thought to do the same, to avoid duplication of effort. - Wedge

'''Question About Time-Stamps'''
Timeline using year/no month/no day

Do you know who controls the formatting of time-stamps in signatures? Did it change with the recent upgrade? The reason I ask is that the time-zone seems to have changed from UTC as used previously to United States Central Time + Daylight Savings. This really is uncomfortable to work for anyone outside the United States and will even change when moving between Standard and Summer Times. There are [http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Bugzilla/local_timezone_conversion,_time_formatting,_and_signature_time_expansion proposals to make this a user parameter], but they aren't implemented yet and may never be. Would it be possible to revert to the UTC time-zone, please, in the interests of international co-operation and standardisation? - Wedge
<table><tr>
:You misunderstand me. I know about the time settings in the Preferences section: those affect what you see on article history logs, etc. But the time-stamps given in signatures seem to be fixed by the system - case in point, your last message to me was signed with a time-stamp of United States Central Time, Daylight Savings. What's the best way to contact Kris, if he's the only one who can control this? - Wedge
<td valign=top>
: Mmm, I'm not sure about that. When I preview using my 4-tilde signature, it comes out to United States Central Time as well. I suppose I can use the history logs as a work-around for now, but if you want to know why I make such a fuss about this, here's what I wrote while you were updating my Talk Page:
:: Your earlier comment (on my Talk Page) before the upgrade uses UTC, which is standard and useful because I can mentally say, 'Ah, Dund posted that at 08:13+1000, my local time.' Whereas after the upgrade, United States Central Daylight Savings Time is meaningless to me. Time-zone abbreviations aren't even standard and can have multiple ambiguous meanings. I'm just rather annoyed with the Internet not being the international-friendly place that it should be: the sooner people are aware of these sort of issues, the sooner people can adopt standards designed to be equitable for everyone. - Wedge

In some ways, it's a shame that article titles are case-sensitive. Do we have a standard or convention with regards to capitalisation of article/category/etc title names? Is it worth having a discussion on this? I know it's probably quite trivial, but it can cause problems with linking to articles when the only difference is a capital letter or two. - Wedge

I'm still confused with regards to the capitalisation of articles, categories, etc. Did we manage to decide on a standard for this? - Wedge
DateFormat = yyyy
Period    = from:2634 till:2669
TimeAxis  = orientation:vertical
ScaleMajor = unit:year increment:5 start:2634

That's how I think headings should be treated as well. Headings/titles should be all capitalised (except for minor words like 'and', 'of', etc) and main body text should flow without capitals for anything but proper nouns. A redirect shouldn't be necessary - just use the <nowiki>[[<link>|<link text>]]</nowiki> formatting. The problem is that we're having quite a few categories recently being created with lower-case headings and changing categories are a pain - I don't think redirects will work on them. That's why I want to get a standard established soon, to avoid difficult changes later on. - Wedge

Hey there. Just so you know, I will probably be working on WC3-related articles today. I know there are some items in that regard I haven't covered yet. I won't interfere with any article related to the novels. Let me know if you guys need any favors from me. -Aeronautico

I had some issues with the unused templates (was trying to give everything a home, as you like it), but I thought that was settled. I don't understand how Templates category being moved changed anything. I certainly didn't notice anything broken, but oh well. - Wedge

Very strange stuff. Would you agree, though, with my intention that the Templates category just didn't belong in the root WCPedia category? - Wedge

I do wonder, though, if the moving the Template category is really at fault here. When I did something with the [[:Category:Articles nominated for deletion]] on a template a while back, it made some funny changes to articles and such. I noticed something similar when I moved those unused Templates to [[:Category:Templates]], but without the <nowiki><nowiki></nowiki> tag. Presumably because it takes a while for the database to update everything, it felt like WCPedia was having delayed reaction to the erroneous change: refreshing [[:Category:Templates]] would show an increasing number of articles with each refresh. After I corrected the categories, refreshing [[:Category:Templates]] showed a decreasing number of articles each time, but the point is that there was a definite delay in the system updating all the links - on the order of minutes or so.

Anyway, I'm not going to change anything more with Categories or Templates, but just thought I would note the odd behaviour I observed, in case we run into it again at some point in the future. - Wedge
Hello, Dundradal. Yup, trying to get back into the game a bit. I got your message, when's the next Wingnut meeting? I'll try my best to be there if I can make the time. I can see most of the most recent updates are from Privateer 2 and whatnot; I'm afraid I won't be much good to you guys in that department, I never did play Privateer. But if there's anything else major in the works, I'm wide open to lend a hand if I can.

I just composed a full page on the Lancelot Flight of 2669. If there's any issues with it, I'll gladly amend them. I am trying to stick with WC3/WC4-related subjects for now. -Aeronautico

I believe the page to which you were referring regarding the novel/manual texts is the Hornet page (of course, the example page) http://www.wcnews.com/wcpedia/F-36_Hornet - Iceblade
