The KIS Hvar'kann was a Hvar'kann-class Dreadnought in the service of the Kilrathi Empire. It has served as the flagship of the Kilrathi Armada since 2669.

Operational History

During the conclusion of the 2660s, the Kilrathi decided to reorganize and modernize its entire fleet so that it would be better suited to deal with the ships of the Terran Confederation, as they held the upper hand in the Terran-Kilrathi War during that decade. Among the ships commissioned during those years was the Hvar'kann-class Dreadnought, one of the largest vessels ever fielded by the Kilrathi Empire. The lead ship of this class was the KIS Hvar'kann, and it quickly assumed the role as Crown Prince Thrakhath nar Kiranka's personal flagship, replacing the aging KIS Hha'ifra.

The flagship entered service sometime around 2669, the final year of the War. Along with a fleet of carriers, destroyers, and cruisers, it patrolled the Terran-Kilrathi border, ready to strike where the Crown Prince pleased. The vessel was also commanded by Thrakhath's retainer, Melek nar Kiranka. One of its prime features was its Commander Audience Hall. It housed over 250 starfighters with some of the finest pilots in the Kilrathi Armada. With its combined armaments, elite fighter squadrons, and immense size, it was ready to face virtually any Terran threat.

The vessel was present in the Locanda System during the initiation of Operation: Unseen Death. The system had been deemed an insignificant resource to the Kilrathi war effort, so the Crown Prince ordered the extermination of its entire population. It was later seen in the Ariel System after an incursion by the TCS Victory decimated the Kilrathi garrison present in the system. Finally, the Hvar'kann became the flagship of the Kilrathi Grand Armada, a massive Kilrathi force assembled for the sole purpose of destroying the Terran homeworld, Earth.

Two days before the assault, Colonel Christopher Blair launched the Temblor Bomb against the Kilrathi homeworld of Kilrah. The planet was completely destroyed, and the resulting shockwaves annihilated the Kilrathi Grand Armada. The Hvar'kann was one of the only vessels to escape, but even so, it was severely damaged. Melek took command of the vessel, as Prince Thrakhath had been killed in combat with Colonel Blair. Blair was captured and taken before Melek when his starfighter was damaged. It was on the Hvar'kann that Melek formally surrendered to Colonel Blair on behalf of the defeated Kilrathi, finally ending the Terran-Kilrathi War.

What became of the KIS Hvar'kann after the war ended is unknown. However, under the Treaty of Torgo, the Kilrathi were ordered to decommission and dismantle its surviving vessels. It is likely that the Hvar'kann met a similar fate.
