Confederation Fleet heavy cruiser. She and a sister ship, the Agamemnon, were considered among the most powerful of the post-war Confederation navy's heavy cruisers.

In 2673, Achilles and cruiser Dornier, accompanied by several fighters, were sent in pursuit of the BWS Intrepid during punitive action against the Outer Worlds Fleet. In the ensuing battle, two torpedoes from Achilles struck the bridge of the Intrepid, killing her command staff and a third of the crew, while Achilles herself was lost with all hands.
