Wedge the earlier versions of this image are actually clearer. The oldest one is actually pretty crystal. It just needs to be cropped. Is the newest one just larger or something? --Dundradal 11:07, 14 August 2010 (CDT)

I know, I've been agonising over this: see my explanation on the Skipper missile talk page. The first image is actually corrupted by JPEG-compression, the one I uploaded after it is a clean capture from the PC version. Images should not be zoomed as they are in the first version because most major browsers will implement their own resampling algorithms when displaying with larger dimensions than the source image. Anyway, what to do about it? There is the greater dynamic range afforded by the full-colour video. If only I had a lossless copy of the PlayStation movies... - Wedge

Good thing you understand this stuff because half of what you wrote above is a bit confusing to me. :p

Can we get a copy like that from someone at the CIC who has the PSX version? --Dundradal 11:37, 14 August 2010 (CDT)

Sorry. Which bits don't you understand? Dynamic range just means the difference between the darkest and lightest possible pixel - for example, note that the blue background is a lot darker in the PlayStation version yet the red is (on average) the same intensity. Resampling is just a general term for the interpolation methods used when resizing images, eg the bilinear filtering used in hsa's Kilrathi Saga hack. If there's anything else unclear, let me know. - Wedge.

I reverted to the PC version for these wire-frame animations for now. - Wedge
