About |
Jumping is the process of using a jump point and a jump drive in order to travel to another system.
After a jump, the ship's auto navigation system locks on to target objects in the system, to check if it arrived at the intended destination. Jump points could unexpectedly close or shift. When one shifts, you end up in a different location than you'd intended. It's rare, but it happens. It is more common with uncalibrated jumps.
During jumps, space forward blurs and then snaps into focus again.
Even in the heavily traveled lanes in the heart of the Confederation jump anomalies are not uncommon. There is an energy discharge when a ship jumps and ships that are too close by can be damaged by it. Also force fields and gravity generators occasionally fail during jump requiring that flight decks be evacuated during jump. |
