X-Wing Collecter's CD-ROM and Abandon Loader

Hello,
I just downloaded Abandon Loader with the intent of loading and playing the origional X-Wing Collecter's CD-Rom, not the X-Wing '95 game. When I started it up though, it told me there was not enough memory.
Where do I go from here?

You would probably have more luck with an X-Wing forum. I'm sure they have experts who can help.

Prob not enough expanded mem. Try downloading dosbox and running it trough there. I would try using default settings, or the settings on wcnews for wc2 since they were released around the same time, though I think the X-wing series was released a little later so you may have to play around a little with the settings if the default dosbox settings do not work.

I have no problems running my X-Wing Collector's CD-ROM under Dosbox, so you should try this program.

It might be better to stay clear of the X-Wing collector's anyway, it replaces the wonderful iMuse inflight MIDI with digital music.

That's actually only half true. The X-Wing Collector's CD-ROM has the original music and updated TIE Fighter graphics. The later "Collector's Series" or something like that replaces the music. If you want a good CD version, get the purple CD.

I have the one with the graphics from X-Wing vs TIE Fighter, speech and digital music. Maybe I`ll get this other one.

I actually like the one with digital music better, because they fixed that HORRID hospital frigate mission. God I hated that mission.

Whats so bad about the Hospital frigate mission, Edfilho? Havent played X-wing, though I VAGUELY remember playing Tie fighter.

Well, it's a mission famous for being nearly impossible (mainly because your wingmen suck).

You have to protect several shuttles and a Nebulon B. The Nebulon is a hospital ship, and the shuttles are ambulances. This is how the mission plays. The shuttles approach the Nebulon in single file. A Star Destroyer jumps in on the opposite side of the Nebulon and launches a wing of TIE Bombers and jumps out. You and your wingmen rush to them in order to blow them up before they launch torpedoes, so far so good.

Then the Destroyer jumps in at the opposite side of the frigate, closer to the shuttles, and launches several wings of bombers.

Now you have to rush to the other side, but considering that A) it's too far (even diverting power to the engines) and B) you cannot just let the wingmen destroy the first wing of bombers that act as decoy, because they're not good enough.

So you HAVE TO tackle both attacks. Good luck with that.

They nerfed this mission in the latest re-issue of the game, the one that runs in XWvsTF engine. It's one of the first missions in the game, and you HAVE to pass it.

Just picture the Save the Ralari mission in Kurasawa, only it's in Enyo and you have no other secondary path... win it or die.

BTW, Frosty, I didn't even notice that the music is different, I was just repeating what Delance said before me.

Ah, I got ya, thanks for the responce. Just asking: do Imperial class Star Destroyers fill the role of command ships, or a mondern destroyer.(escort ship). Gratefullness to anybody that can answer the question.

Imperial Star Destroyers are both heavy Battleships and Carriers.
The "destroyer" part is misleading, they're called that because it sounds cool :)
