Hi guys,
I am making a Wing Commander 3 movie and have just registered on this forum to give you some info.
The PSX video extractor unfortunately produces videos with an extreme green/yellow color tone.
I realised this when I tried several PS1 emulators.
Could @HCl please fix this and maybe add an option to export in YUV-10bit format?
Then we can add croma-smooth even better afterwards instead to work in rgb
Or he can release the source code of the tool If he has no time?
Attached is a comparison picture with the Duckstation emulator with the following additional options in the settings.
chroma smooth = on
use old MDEC Routines = on (for less block-artefacts in the image)
Because Duckstation is open source, you could look up how the color conversion is done there.
Perhaps this documentation will also help.
The framerate should also not be 14.99 but 14.985 I guess.
If you take it exactly it should be 15000/1001, because that is half of NTSC standard.
Here is a comparison video of mine showing the difference between HCL and Duckstation:
BTW:
I spent hours and hours recording the duckstation videos and it wasn't easy because most of the time the second frame and a few at the end were missing.
But I've managed it and I personally do not need the tool at the moment I guess...
At the bottom are images taken from 3DO/PC/PSX-Duckstation/PSX-HCL
