Wing Commander IV 16-bit SVGA patch for German and French versions

You guys have on this site the 16-bit patch:

16 bit SVGA Patch (14k)

but it only works with the English version. If you're using it on a German or French WC IV the patching process aborts.


I have finally found the same patch for the French and German versions:

Fixes 16-bit SVGA palette problem with some old PCI video cards

It sounds as if the patch is only for mid 90s PCI cards. The readme gives the same impression.

But, I've had this problem (distorted colors) on a Matrox G400 too. It's an late 90s AGP card (very late: September 1999) and the patch fixed the problem.

That's understandable, though, since the description is from 1996 and thus predates the existence of AGP graphics cards.
