Wing Commander 4 going dark...

Hey, I just got WC4 yesterday and have played it enough to get to the 6th CD and I got to the mission where you have to get past Ella Superbase and as soon as I got to Nav 1 my screen started going darker and darker until it was pitch black but the game was still hapening in the backround. I was creeped out about this since I just got it and dont wanna have to return it so I decided to see if this was a problem with my computer and not with the game itself. So I quit to Windows but the computer was acting fine. Now I'm wondering if its a problem with my monitor, so I got my extra monitor and attached it to my computer, but the same thing kept on happening!
Is there some patch I can download that will correct this or do I have to return WC4 to the store(as an absolute last resort)?

I've never heared about that bug. Most likely that one is graphic card related I'd think. You might want to try to patch WC4 to the Windows version that uses DirectX. mabe that solves the problem.
 
Ok, I downloaded the Windows 95 upgrade from the files section and it seems to be working perfectly! thx for all the help!

Sorry, I guess I wasnt signed in when I posted my reply so I did download the Windows 95 patch and I am enjoying the missions after the Ella superbase one!
