Wing Commander 4 DVD can´t find the VOB-Files

Hello to all of you :-),

GREAT site and I shall be damned, not have been visited this Community earlier. Today I´ve started to test my WC4-DVD, since I was going to have some nostalgy... ;-)

My current situation:

I could install the game, set the Compatibility Mode, copied some files over from the DVD... well, finally the game starts. But: As soon as there is a video to be played the game will give me a Message "Video not found", showing also the path E:\vob\.... .vob. The file is there and i can play it perfectly by using PowerDVD - but not within the game.

Any hints or clues? I´ll appreciate anything, that´ll bring me forward.

You need to download the DVD patch from the CIC's files section (also note that powerDVD might conflict with the patch requireing using the mpg2dec patch and running register.bat)

Nothing against your knowledge, but are you sure it´s a codec-problem when you see the picture on the top? :-)

Wrong patch... I don't recomend the win2k patch at all. I recomend a fresh install and then use the following patch:

http://download.wcnews.com/files/wing4/dxmci12.zip

Unzip it into the WC4 directory, and set qin95/98 compatability mode of the game's exe.

Then let us know if there are futher error messages. You might also need mpeg2dec and ac3 filter if it still doesn't work or there's no sound.

I receive this Error, whereas I think, that it´s getting tough to diagonse anything:

I don´t even get into the game.
 
Sorry, I can´t edit, since I´m not registered.

I just wanted to add: As soon as I put any video-concerning files (*.dll) into the game-dir, I get the message above. Leaving everything as it is will let me see the game, but no vid - showing the very top message.
