Ok, ive read alot about all these different setups, and since i am not a dos wizard etc...i will start from scratch so you know where im coming from.

I have 4 cd isos for wc3 (disk1, 2, 3 and 4)

I mount disk 1 using daemon tools (shows up as virtual drive e)

(note) when i click wc3.exe from this cd it automaticly loads the game up with no problems, goes straight into the game but only has the music playing and no voice etc..

So i follow the instructions to mount the virtual drive.

I get up to when im suppose to switch to drive E and type wc3 and press enter.... it never works

Now i copy everything to a folder in my c drive, run wc3.exe..

I go through the tests until i go to the setup menu.

Now i use sound blaster 16 settings for both music and sound and they work find

Install contents to harddrive....save and play

Then it tells me theres a problem with sound (problem with cd etc) and boots me out

-now i did use vdm sound on the wc3.exe in my c drive, and this time it loaded up and said it could not find my music card..

Sorry if it isnt explained well enough, just seems like im going in circles.

Oh, i have vista installed,

any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Ok, so i went back in and mounted

C C:/

E E:/

then typed WC3 (pressed enter)...which worked this time

It loaded then the following:

Open failed on file ..\..\DATA\SOUND\GMMUSIC.IFF

The error is probably a result of a bad cd...etc..etc

You aren't mounting the CD-ROM correctly. You need to add the CDrom switch to the CDROM mounting line. Make sure you copy it *EXACTLY* as you see it in the techsupport article. In your case it would be "mount e: e:\ -t cdrom" minus the quotation markes.

EDIT: Hmmm, dosbox has it's own version of a virtual drive system. You should try that instead of trying to load the actual ISOs. Alternately you could burn them to CDs and run them normally.

ok, so i used -t cdrom switch from https://www.wcnews.com/techsupport.shtml#wc3, followed the instructions.

I switched to E drive (which is my virtual cd drive)..typed wc3 (pressed enter)

Game loaded perfectly...running smooth with music, but no sound or speech..?

Any advice?

cheers

Did you input all the port, dma, irq, etc sound settings from the walkthrough in the installation? If not, you can get back into the setup menus by starting the game with wc3 -i

ok

I burnt the iso to a disc, selected the d drive this time to mount

Went through the config again...and everything works!

So effectivly, im playing it from a cd even tho i installed files to computer.

Can be a little choppy at times tho, especially when the cd has to load things.

All in all guys, i salute you....even taught me a little bit about dos ;)

Cheers
