Wing Commander 2 Sound&Music

Hi,

I played WC2 quite often several years ago. However, I lost the disc's and can't install the game. I searched the Inet for WC2, but unfortunately I only found .zip packages with the size of 14,3MB, but the Music/Sound doesnt seem to be included.

Can anyone help me please? :)

best regards

Yup. Stolen copies of WC2 are generally the Kilrathi Saga version. The warez sites cut out the KS digital music. You get what you pay for. Search ebay for a proper copy of WC2.

asdf :/, I bought the game years ago for my money...

>You get what you pay for.

So, I payed for the game, what more do u want? It wasnt copied, it was a original version. I even got the manual.

>Search ebay for a proper copy of WC2.

Your funny. Am I suposed to buy this old game two times? I guess not... and I wont.

Didn't thought that this forum is so unfriendly... :(

No, you're free not to.

I don't see how it is.

You have a version of WC2 that has no music. I don't think there's anything I could do to help you.

Sure there is... but I'm not demanding it from you...

I think it would work, if anyone can send me the Gamedat folder... I only would replace it with mine and it should work.

anyways, thanks for trying

bye

The version of Wing Commander 2 which you're trying to steal is not the one you played years ago -- it's the 'remastered' Win9x version, "Kilrathi Saga". The music was all redone digitally, and so the missing folder is several hundred megs large (which is why pirates don't include it in their distros in the first place).

Also, be aware that this is a particularly buggy port of Wing 2 -- you should either look for a used copy of the DOS version (which generally costs $5 or so) or, if you absolutely can't afford that, you should try to find a pirated copy of that instead of the Kilrathi Saga one. It's smaller, has the music, has less bugs and is pretty much just as easy to run on a modern system.

Awww... steal? lol....

Hmm, didnt know that it was remastered. Dunno whether ur right, cause this WC2 doesn't run in Win98 ... i need to restart the computer in dos mode.

Anyways, lets check whether i got it right:
Kilrathi Saga - remastered version, better graphics+sounds, much bugs, runs in Win9x
old WC2 - 'bad' graphics+sounds, few bugs, runs only in dos mode, easy to run on a modern system

What u mean with "buggy port of Wing 2"?

And you can buy Kilrathi saga as well the old dos WC2?

KS version has digitized sound (WAV) instead of MIDI. Depending on your hardware this might be an advantage or a disadvantage (usually an advantage). It does however make the game several 100 MBs in size.
KS version also runs under DirectX (so less problems with newer hardware) and has some additional features (turn off cockpit and I think rudder support).
KS version has some mission (details) wrong and seems to be less stable.
DOS version has BETTER graphics (at least in SO2).
That's about it.

PS: At the size you say if it is the DOS version sound and music should be in it. It is more likely that WC2 doesn't like your soundcard or it is set to a wrong one or wrong IRQs,...
