Recently a few people have been requesting a video of the Wing Commander II introduction. It's just fortunate that there is already a video out there, but since it seems that it's not very well known, here's a reminder that it's out there. I feel nostalgic seeing it again and it's easier than trying to run the game itself. Besides that, with these fancy wavetable MIDI cards and the like, it's just not the same. You can download the video from our server here (33MB), but the original video comes from this site.

Not really. The animation is slow, but the sound is flawless. If you were playing it on an average computer when the game was released, that's pretty much how it would have played.

Yeah, I remember the first time I played it : on an AT 286 16Mhz & it was exactly as in this clip.
Thank for letting us hear the music again as it originally sounded.
Can you make an mp3 of the theme? If I play the game now, it doesn't sound as good as the original. (some sounds as different as intended)
 
I never could dig the FMV Kilrathi compared to how they were shown in WC2. I remember something about the animatronics being too difficult to create for WC3 and up, so they blunted the snouts considerably. I don't remember where I heard that... I want to say that it was on the Behind the Screens CD.
 
Yeah, there's some pointier-snout Kilrathi concept art floating around from the WC3 era.

I'm working on a project that hopefully some CIC will approve of - adding to the music base of this site. It's a HUGE collection - but I notice that several themes and background tunes are missing.

What better use of a professional musicians time?

I've already heard thos but they are somewhat different from the original sound, at least that on my AT 286. However, the intro in this thread is exactly as it originally sound, if you have them both, just play them and you hear the difference. Some sound in the mp3 are not as they should be.

How was this intro video created? :confused: Is there a specific program you need to rip video/audio while playing a DOS game?

Considering that those songs were written, not for a vanilla sound blaster, but for a roland synthesizer, that probably is how it originaly sounded. However, most of us only ever played it with a soundblaster Or the amiga equivalent) so our nostagia is connected to that sound.
