Problem:
First off, I've installed the Win2k patch for WCP, and ran dxdiag to get rid of that blasted video skip issue. However, I have another problem. Most times I play the game, when it goes to the "Downloading Mission Data" screen, the program crashes, I get a message that prophecy.exe has generated errors, and I'm back to windows. Sometimes, if I wait a while, and repeat the process, I'll actually get to launch and play the mission. Most times, though, this is not the case. I've gone through the first dozen or so pages of this forum, and have not seen any threads that reported similar issues. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem, or if anyone knows what might be going on.

- Apply Win2K patch
- Apply the Video_fix patch
- Set to non the sound acceleration
- Play with Win98 compatibility

It doesn't solve the problem, but makes crashes less frequent.

hi, i just got my hands on WCP and i'm on Win2K. I get errors when i run it, so i came here to find help. Can you please tell me where to get the Win2K patch and teh Video_fix patch? And please explain how to "Set to non the sound acceleration" and "Play with Win98 compatibility"?
Thank you so much for your help!

The patches should be in the 'Files' section of the CIC website on the right-hand side of the screen (it's under Resources).

To set compatability mode, go to the program's directory, and right-click 'prophecy.exe', then select 'Properties' from the menu that comes up. At the top of that dialog box, select the 'Compatibility' tab. There should be a check-box to engage compatibility mode; if so, click it (I'm on XP Pro, but I know Home is the same way). Select either Windows 95 or Windows 98 from the drop-down list (I prefer 95, but try 98 to see if you get better performance that way).

Sound acceleration someone else will have to help you with.

sorry i've not come back sooner, but i've had other problems. thank you for the help. unfortunately, there is no compatability tab at the top of the dialog box. keep in mind that i am on win2k pro. if you could give me some more help, that would be great! Thanks again!
