WCP won't install on XP

I got and played WCP when my family had Win98.
Now we have XP, and I can't install WCP.

I've tried everything, including playing with audio and graphics accelerations... it still won't install.

I run the setup.exe and get this error:

"setup.exe - Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application."

Anyone got any ideas?

Have you tried enabling compatibility mode on the installation file? If that still doesn't work, try a manual install: https://www.wcnews.com/webmirrors/tech/gamefaq/prophecy.html#manual

I did try compatability mode.
I'll try the manual install... if I can figure it out... If I have trouble, I'll ask.
