WCP sounds help

Ok, so by now I've been made well aware of the fact that I'm totally inept with computers, that being said, I need some help. I used HCl's WCP TRE manager to rip the sounds out of the speech.tre and all the files are .iff and .xa. Does anyone know where I can pick up (a shareware version of) an .iff and/or .xa player/converter (to .wav's or similar file)? I found a program that converts iff to voc but the sound is mostly static and sounds like it's playing real slow. Any help is greatly appreciated...

P.S. What is a .xa file?
 
The sounds are unfortunatley compressed in a format that belongs to Origin, we don't as of yet now how to compress/uncompress them but progress is being made so keep your fingers crossed.
The iffs might be doable you'd have to ask someone else ;)
