WCP intermittent video (NOT skipping video)

After fixing the skipping WCP video problem by turning down the hardware acceleration on my SB Live, I get stuck with an intermittent video problem (which isn't as bad, but still really annoying). Basically the video pauses once or twice a second. Now here's the quirk...I'm on dial-up internet, and whenever I've been connected to the internet, the video problem is gone! Like it never existed. And sometimes that "solution" will stick to when I'm not connected also, but after I reboot, the problem is back again. Any thoughts on this one?

Thoughts? Oh, THOUGHTS I have, alright, but I'll be damned if they're correct. :p

Dial-up internet... Something WCP has absolutely nothing to do with... Wow, I wish I knew how that intermittent video turns up. That would make it easier on us laymen. There has to be some sort of communication between your modem and the graphics card then, I suppose. Are they the same brand? Neighbouring IRQ/DMA/whatever?

I don't think there's a conflict there. IRQ 16 for my ATI Radeon 9700 and 23 for the modem (AOpen FM56-PM). I've also got a P4 2.6 ghz hyperthreader with a gig of ram running Win XP. Although I doubt that that information will actually conjure up a solution... :)

Yeah.. you're going to have to come up with some sort of connection between your dialup internet and Prophecy. Does your ISP have some sort of dialer program you use? It could be loading into windows every time you boot without your knowledge, and then could change or close itself once you connect. Look for stuff like that.

Given that most Prophecy video problems are actually sound card related, I'd be looking at conflicts with the sound card.

I can only tell you one thing: A PC only has hardware interrupts up to IRQ15. So everything above would have me worried and probably is a good entry point for problems.
