Whan I click to save and play I get bumped back to dos "failed to load ..missions.tre" and it prompts me to make a bootdisk. Please help! baboneya@hotmail.com

wc4 win7

Can i run "wc4 dvd interactive" on win7 64-bit? I so want to play this game.

The DVD does work in Win7 but it needs a few patches and tweaks and may have pallette issues. Regarding the demo, did you make sure you mounted your harddrive correctly?

Aw man, I think I'll just play the Playstation versions of Wing Commander 3 and 4. PC gaming sounds too much like a hassle. How do the PS versions compare to the PC ones?

It's not really that hard to get most of the PC versions running. We have a whole tech support section that takes you step by step through it: https://www.wcnews.com/techsupport.shtml

Regarding the playstation ports. The WC3 port is pretty much like the PC version minus the ground missions. In place of those there's some extra FMV that wasn't in the PC version. Plus the video is a bit better quality than the PC version. But the controls - unless you have a PSX flightstick - aren't very good.

On the otherhand, the controls in WC4 work really nicely with a gameplad and even has some rumble effects. But the video is worse than the PC version and they even abridged the story somewhat. There's only 4 CDs instead of 6 for example.

stuff

I figured it out. wc4demo kept looking for c: drive (C:\WC4DEMO\missions.tre). All I had to do was rename my directory in windows and put it in the root of a drive and in dosbox mount c: f:\. "F" being the drive with root folder \WC4DEMO\.

pc gaming

Wing Commander originated on pc in a time of 386's and if you were lucky enough to have a 486! Sound Blaster was the coolest when you could play MIDI files of Axel F. This was a time when nintendo just hit the scene. PC has been and always will be where its at for video games for the people who know where its at. I've never owned a PS or XBOX and don't plan to, but I do own every original nintendo console except wiwi, (ive had intellivision, coleco, and atari).
