WC4 XP help needed

Hey all,
I recently got a hold of a copy of WC4 and from reading everything I tried getting to work but with somewhat sucess. I have XP home and I copied from the CD's the files then applied the Win95 patch. It works normally, but when I get to the registration screen, I can't seem to put in a callsign and continue. I hit numerous keys and nothing will be entered so I can't continue on. Does anyone have any suggestions?

well, 1st off are u using the wc4w.exe file ? thats ment specifically for windows. also, set the compatibility of that file to win95. thats all i did last week and ive been playing since.
