I tried using WinXP and Dosbox and get teh same problem either way. The sound is choppy meaning it'll play for a few secodns then be silent for seconds on and off sounding. Everything seems fine!

What are your system specs? It's really hard to say without knowing what you are doing to run the game. In dosbox, were you using dynamic core with the cycles cranked up? In XP, do you have the compatability settings set for the exe file? have you played with the sound and video hardware acceleration levels?
