Oh, man, just when I got my joystick problem out of the way. Now, the game keeps crashing after the same mission. It's the 5th or 6th mission, extracting the hostage. After completion and landing, it keeps kicking me out to the prompt, saying "Stop that. You scare my chickens!" I have it on the Win95 compatability. Any ideas? Does it have anything to do with the other 5 discs in the game?

Thanks...

At that point the game is trying to play a movie of your fighter going down to a planet. For some reason your system seems to have a problem with this, though it's odd that it's just quitting normally instead of crashing or giving an error message. Is this disc scratched? Did you ever try getting the windows version running?

The disc seems to be in alright shape. It keeps crashing after I land, and after I make the jump out of the system. I only have the Dos version of the game, and I have it running in Win95 compatability. I have tried changing the core and turning sound and speech off, to no avail. Do the other 5 discs that come with the game come into play at any point? Do they need to be copied to the hard drive or installed? I bought this off of eBay after not playing for 6 years or so and would LOVE to get this working.

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.....

I would see if it still crashes without dosbox set to any specifix compatability mode as there should be no need for this. If you still have the problem, try applying the win95 patch in the CIC's files section, then run the windows version with the compatability set to either win95 or 98

These are both similar scenarios to the situation you described above. The game is switching to play a new movie file.

Yeah, of course the five other discs do have a purpose. You will be prompted to use them as the game goes along. You could try copying one or two to the hard drive and mounting them in DOSBox or imaging them with daemon tools to see if your CD-ROM drive is what's causing this problem.

wc4 crash

I have the same problem tried defrag and reinstall no avail. I see what should be the change cd screen briefly before it exits any idea on why it might fail when that happens? I've tired both running the cd direct and as a virtual drive

That might not be the same issue if it has to do with changing the CDs instead of playing movies. You might try unplugging any unnecessary devices when you get to that point. Are you running the DOS or Windows version? What kind of hardware do you have? What are the full circumstances surrounding this? When does it occur? How does the disc look?

It happens just after the same movie talked about in the previous post. I only see the insert cd screen when i drop the cpu cycles way down. It happens both in window and fullscreen and i am running the dos mode i tried reinstalling in a new directory with the windows 95 patch and got the same error. my machine is a core duo 6400 2 gigs of ram asus p5w dh deluxe motherboard and ati 1950pro video card. The disc appears unscratched and i get no errors with alcohol 120 or nero when i create the iso. its just as the movie ends after the jump i see a flicker that is the change disc screen when i slow it down and then a green flash and the normal exit screen about the chickens. is their a timer or something that my computer is runnign to fast that would exit the program? Any help is apretiated

Are you using motherboard sound? The sound card is one of the most important system specs to include for people to diagnose problems like these. Have you tried completely disabling sound in the installer and then playing the mission?

That sounds like it might have something to do with some stray input device. Try it without any joysticks or miscellaneous devices are plugged in.

wc4 mission crash solution

Its pretty simple to avoid. After you complete the mission and have landed the movie scene starts with the transport landing. While this is happening take out the wc4 cd 1 and put in the second cd. the movie will freeze but all you have to do is hit esc. then it will show you the beginning of the jump scene but just hit esc and then you are back and running in the ship with the next mission waiting for you.
