WC4 Install prob on XP

Hi

I am coming back to WC after 5 years or so and have a new comp but cannot get the game tro install any more.

I run the install from the CD.. it enters install, copies some files to the directory i have assigned.. then the screen comes up for machine testing, but at that point the install freezes up. At least i think so- the mouse is not moving (it is PS2).

I have also downloaded teh win95 fix. Possibly it is intended to be applied once the game is already installed, but i tried anyways. When i launched the bat file it just said go buy the game and when i launched the exe, it said it couldnt find the game from the hard disk nor the CD.

During all tries i had the CD in drive. I also tried it by putting the virtual cd in my daemon tools, assuming it wanted the first CD drive, but that did not help.

My computer is
AMD 2500+
1Gb memory

can anyone help me? i am so missing that game

Did you set it up to run in W98 compatibility mode?

God how stupid of me.

It was after all so that the vanilla WC4 did nor recognise my mouse.. and was not locked up after all. I discovered i could move the arrow with my arrow keys. So i finished the installation, applied the win95 patch and it plays fine, part from slight scratches in the video sound after a couple of minutes.. but thats minor.
