WC4 in Win2000

Hi Guys, I have a question:

Is Wing Commander 4 playable in Win2000?
I tried playing it, but I couldn't get it to work.
Installation went fine, but when I try to play it, a window opens and closes again.....

I think my version of WC4 has a Win95 version...If enter the cd in the drive, automatically the installation starts.

What can I do in order to play WC4 correctly in Windows 2000?
My pc is an athlon XP1700 with 256 MB RAM and I have a NVidia geforce 2 Pro videocard. This should do for the game right?
