wc4 dvd in winxp

I am wondering if anyone has WC4 DVD working in XP. I moved my DXr2 card over and loaded the wdm drivers. The card is detected, but I get a missing movie error when it needs to play a movie. It will go into flight mode fine. I was wondering if there is some trickery to get it working that I can try.

u need to install the player for the dxr2, i don't even know if there are any for xp though. but i do know the dxr3/hollywood plus works great in xp

Have a look at the file win.ini and look for:

[mci extensions]

somewhere below you should find a
vob=[some name line]

Now goto system.ini and look for

[mci]

Now look up how your DVD driver is named there.
For me it is either
WinDVD=ivimci.drv
or
MPEGVIDEO2=MCIQTZ.DRV

Now add that name after the
"vob=" (or create the "vob=" if it is missing) eg:

vob=MPEGVIDEO2

Cool, I will try that. I just finished my CD version of WC4 last night. If that works for DVD, I will just have to go through it again taking a different route.

nothing under ether mci

Hi m8s, I have WC4 DVD got rid of my mpeg2 card it came with a long time ago tho , am now running in xp too, can get the game to run in compatibilit mode but when any movies try to play including the intro it sez missing vob file etc.. like the other guy here however looking in system.ini and win.ini there is no mention of vob anywhere

infact mci exentions in win ini has nothing at all under it - there is a BAK at the bottom with loads of =MPEG2, tried added vob=mpeg2 to that and to the blank bit near the top no luck

system ini has NOTHING under mic either

anyideas?

Well if there is nothing rpesetn just type it in yourslf, including the section names. Besides that I dunno. Use a Win98 instead.
