WC3 on Vista

Has there been any luck running WC3 on a vista system? I have seen many solutions for XP, but none make mention of vista. I have tried following the same procedures, and none will work

When I try to install in DosBox, no matter what dir I enter for where to save games, it tells me that it can't, and then when I try to copy game files, it tells me there is not enough space. I know this isn't true, because I have over 50 gig open.

Thanks-

just in case- I am trying to run it on a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop
Intel DuoCore CPU 1.66 GHz, 2 gig of RAM, 32-bit OS

Thanks!

With that hardware, I'd throw Vista off of it as fast as I could and set up XP.

But that's not the issue here. I suspect that the problem lies in your config file, probably in the drive definition. Please check the drive parameter possibilities in DOSbox Wiki and see what you've set up.

We need more info to be able to tell what the issue here is. There's a couple of possibilities. Did you follow the CIC's tech support walkthtough? Did you mount your harddrive correctly? If all is mounted correctly you could try creating the WC3 directory before attempting to install the game to that directory.

Ok, I mounted my hard drive (although it said it already was. weird), and everything ran smoothly following the tech's walk through, untill I clicked 'run wc3' at which point the following appeared in Doxbox:

Open failed on file: ..\..\DATA\SOUND\GFSAMPLE.IFF

This error is probably the result of a bad CD-ROM read. Please try running the game again from your latest save game and the problem should go away. If the problem persists, you may have a bad CD. If you continue to have trouble, please call Origin Customer Service for more information

I tried multiple disks, and the same thing appeared.

ideas?

Going back to AD's question, it doesn't sound like you're following the CIC's tech support walkthrough. Its instructions are for both XP and Vista. https://www.wcnews.com/techsupport.shtml#wc3 It takes more than mounting your CD drive, did you mount it with the -t cdrom switch?
