WC3 Mac problem

I know that probably very few mac people ask questions here, and I hope you guys don't just look at me in disgust. That being said, I've gotten through WC3 up to the first mission on disc 4, I don't remember which one it is but it's right after Maniac gives you heat about Hobbes. So, the ship is about to load up, the screen with all the green text and such, and my screen just goes black. I get an error message that says: "Seek Failed on File: DARKGAL1" and then "Sorry, an error occurred while reading from the cd". I've already taken the liberty of getting a perfectly new, clean copy of disk 4, and no luck. Is this even fixable? Is the mac port of the game just bad? Is there just one stupid file missing on the cd? I really just want to get through the game. Electronic Arts support has been nothing if not useless, and Origin ignores everything but Ultima. Please help...

If you do the full install of the game, there's no problem. I just had to copy the data files from the first cd to the wing commander folder. If I tried to do it through the installer, it usually stalled, but for some reason it copied directly from the cd just fine. don't copy the first cd specific files, though, because they'll just confuse the game program when it tries to load disc 4 data, and it'll crash again.
