WC3-KS hanging in Windows 7

Description of problem, configuration, and attempted fixes are below. I'm out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated.

Issue
WC3-KS hangs after landing on TCS Victory after completing the first mission of the game. This happens every time.

Configuration
64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium
Running sol_hsa's directdraw hack
No Windows compatbility settings

Attempted Fixes
I have tried running it with compatibility settings for Win95, Win98, WinXP SP2, and Win2k with NStriker's patch. No success
 
Are your CDs scratched? Is it possible that the spot where it might be scratched is where the video of Rachel congratulating you (or whatever) is?

Alternately, what happens without Sol hsa's patch? Are you getting the wierd pallette issues? Even so, does the mission still freeze without his hack applied?

Also I recommend a fresh install to get rid of the win2k patch incase that is giving you other issues. Lets make sure it's not the other changes you've applied first.
 
Good call. It probably is the disc.

Without the ddraw hack, I do get the strange palette issue and it still freezes. And I did an un-install/re-install to get rid of the Win2k patch.
 
Yup, I confirmed that the disc was the problem.

I used the wc3.con file in the install directory to see which files the game was looking for from the CDs, and made new CDs, taking the files that couldn't be read off the KS CDs and replacing them with the equivalent files from my DOS CDs.

Now it works perfectly.
