WC3 KS + ddhack + win xp = black screen

Hello, I tried the search function but couldn't get any answers on my problem.

I'd like to replay the entire Kilrathi Saga using ddhack, however all WCs (1 2 and 3) crash when the Ddhack files are placed in their directory.

Games run fine without Ddhack though, except WC3: When I enter the "no_interlace" command, the videos appear like this

***Note that the video colours are fine but in the screenshot are completely wrong for some reason.

Helping me figure out a way to have ddhack not crash the games or a way to solve my no_interlace problem would be greatly appreciated.

What steps did you take to install and run the game without ddhack? Have you tried turning the compatability mode on the exes off or on if you didn't turn it on to start with?

The games were installed through the WC3KS wizard. And yes, I've tried all possible compatibility combos with and without Dhack and the results are always the same. To be a bit more precise because "black screen" might be a bit vague. The games actually crash and have to end the process to make the black screen go away.

Don't forget the games run smooth without ddhack, the only problem I have is with no_interlace but I don't think it's possible to play WC3 without it :x

Maybe ddhack is designed to work best on Win7?

Hmm, what version of windows are you using? It should work with Vista or Win7... It's possible it works in XP but I have no way of testing that myself.
 
I'm using WinXp proff SP3.
Well not many options left at this point. Might be a good time to update my system to Win7 and hope WC3 works properly :)
 
My last attempt to give another hint that might give some solution.
When "no_interlace" is enabled all the videos are distorted as shown in the OP, however when I switch it to windowed mode the videos appear normal.

The window is too small to play the entire game on it, but maybe I could do something else that eludes me?

Ok just a small update. I made a partition and installed win7 and WC3 works fine with ddhack. However Wc1 and Wc2 still crash immediately after I run them :(
 
If WC3 works with ddhack then I doubt that the WC1/2 problems would be due to ddhack itself. Have you tried to run WC1/2 without ddhack and see if it works well?

You are right. I had forgotten to enable compatibility mode for WC1-2, all the games run fine now. WC2 has some minor issues but that's inevitable from what I've seen.

So in conclusion, ddhack works perfectly in win7 but doesn't work in winxp (at least for me). By the way, it's funny that I had to install win7 to play 17 year old game :)
