WC3 installation problems on dosbox 0.73

Hi,

i´ve just tried to install WC3 on dosbox (WinXP SP2) like it was said on the tech support on wcnews.com. It worked fine i came to the menue the sound card and the joystick were detected but when i came to the speed test they said: "Your cd-rom drive is reading faster than possible". When i copied the files and tried to save and start the game it didn´t work.

Maybe you´ve got some tips for me. (the VDM Sound solution didn´t work either)

Sorry for my bad English.

The CD-Rom thing shouldn't be a problem. Is it possible though that the harddrive wasn't mounted correctly?

Thanks for your help.

That was it. I changed hardrive from "mount e: e:/dos" to "mount c: c:\" and it worked. It´s a bit strange because dosbox says that mounting c: is not recommend and that i should mount a subdirectory. Mounting e:\dos worked well for WC1 and other dos games. Isn´t it possible to use a subdirectory with WC3?

There's not really a problem mounting c:\. You can mount whatever you want, but you have to make sure the logic of the resulting directory structure makes sense for the game to understand.
