Hi guys,

I'm looking for some help. I wanted to install WC3 on my computer by using dosbox 0.72. After having done all my settings for the game I went to the menu point save all settings and play wc3. But there is no installation process!!!! There are no files copied in the chosen directory so that I can't start the game when typing in wc3. What's my fault?

Some more information: I'm using an AMD Athlon 1.8GHz running with XP

All right guys, thanks for your help!!!!

Yepp, I guess so cause I could copy the object & mission & gameflow files into the chosen directory. The chosen directory is e. Could it be possible that I have to install the game into a c: directory?

Cheers

Ist NEVER a good idea to install anything into a base directory like c:\ or e:\
By old DOS restrictions only a certain number of files may be located in such a directory so it will cause problems with many programs.
Try e:\WC3 or somesuch and see if that changes anything.

I tried to install the game in the e:\wc3 directory but it didn't work. Are there any other prerequisites which I have to consider? May be a patch or something else?

Just to give you better impression of the problem: When I click on the menu point "save settings and play wc3" the whole installation process starts from the beginning without having installed the game before. Hopefully, this information is helpful.

Thanx

Hi folks,

I got it. The game has to be installed in the c:\ directory. Is it normal that the video sequences stutter? And is it possible to play the game with a gamepad?

Thanx for your support, guys!!!

An Athlon 1.8 probably is not fast enough to play WC3 without some stutter in DOSBox. Devices like USB Gamepads should be automatically recognized by DOSBox and turned into something that the game can use.
