WC2 sound problems

I have copied all the files to the hard drive. Ran the game in dosbox7 under c:\wc2\wing2. The game seems to run fine, but I have no sound! Please help and be specific because I am dumb when it comes to this kind of thing.

You need to set up your sound hardware. In that same directory, run the winstall.exe file and configure your sound hardware. Don't forget that dosbox defaults to IRQ 7.

also you could instead create a file called wc2.cfg in the main directory you've made. Then add the text v a904 c27 to the file (just use a text editor like notepad, but the extension needs to be cfg). You should be able to play the game with the sound configured for default DOSBox settings or run the installer as if the game were properly installed

I'm glad you registered, and got it mostly working. In the future though, please don't post the same thing to multiple threads.

choppy game?

Sound works great now thanks, and sorry about the multiple posts.

Now I need some more info. The game is very choppy, and how do I get it into full screen?

These questions are addressed in our Tech Support section: https://www.wcnews.com/techsupport.shtml#wc2

DOSBox 0.70 and later versions automatically guess how fast each program needs to run. Play the game with these default speed settings first. If the game runs too fast or slow, manual customization can be enabled by altering values in the dosbox.conf file. Change core=auto to core=normal or core=dynamic and cycles=auto to cycles=4000. Save and restart dosbox. Control+F11 and Control+F12 manually change cycles (speed), and Control+F7 and Control+F8 adjust frameskip. We recommend approximately 4000 cycles and 0 frameskip for Wing Commander 2.

Hold down ALT and press enter if you would like to enlarge the playing window to full screen. If there is a problem with full screen, adjusting scaler=normal2x to scaler=normal3x in dosbox.conf will enlarge the window by 50%.
