WC2 Kilrathi Saga problem

I can get wing commander 1 to work with no problems. When I try to run wing commander 2 i'm having problems. The music is a bit choppy, the characters "studder" when they talk. The best way i can describe it is for example during the first mission when Shadow sees enemies she says "enemy sighted captain" but it sounds like en en en enemy si si si sighted ca ca cap t t t tain. All the speech sounds studdered like this. Finally the keyboard doesn't respond very well. I will try to fly right and I keep going straight. Ill hold down the right arrow key and finally it barely starts to go right. Ill hold it down longer and it finally responds, but then it I need to go left suddenly ill need to hold down the arrow key for like 20 seconds. This pretty much makes the game unplayable. Id appreciate any help, as im sure im not the first person to have this problem. I'm a big WC fan and ive never ever been able to play WC2 and it looks to be the best WC game out there. I'm not very computer savvy so detailed instructions would be helpful. I also have windows XP if that matters. I have also changed the windows compatibility to windows 95 when I run the game. That allows WC to run fine but not WC2. Thanks for any help!

I had the same problem but never came up with a solution. Do you have a copy of the original WC2? It works fine in dosbox.

The kilrathi saga has some problems with sound especially because it was just a bad port to start with. Most of those issues probably aren't XP specific. Try adjusting your sound acceleration setting and see if the stuttering improves.

I do have the dos version of wc2. Too bad its at my mom's house 5 hours away. I guess ill have to wait until I can go there and pick it up. Dosbox is a great program so im sure it will get wc2 going. Only problem is I wanna play wc2 right now!!!! Thanks for the replys guys!

VirtualProtect () failed

Hi. Any ideas how to solve "VirtualProtect () failed" memory problem (can't run WC3)? Yes I have allocated Virtual memory above requirements...
THX

Which version of WC3 is this? If it's the dos version have you tried using the dosbox walkthough? If you are talking about kilrathi saga, did you set compatability modes?

I apologize for putting this question where it doesn't belong (the last "unregistered" quote). THX for your answer. I have already found Striker's patch for Win2K and proper thread where this problem is being discussed. THX for the effort and your time!
