WC1 from Kilrathi Saga crashes

immediatly after the introduction and credits, when you should select "start career", it crashes to windows, no message.
also the secret missions
WC2 and the special operations work, though, no problems
any ideas? i'd be grateful for the help cause i've played WC2 and the special operations as a kid, but never played WC1, which is a shame..
 
I have a similar problem.

OS: win2K
game: wc1 from kilrathi saga

prob: crash after intro


wc2 with addOnes runs perfectly inclusive music and soundFXs

anybody with the same prob? reInstall of WC1 changes nothing... intro runs perfect with music and sound...

I installed the ServicePack 3

Now I can use compatibility-mode for shortcuts...

...but! when I try to use one of the comp-modes for wc1.exe the PC couldn´t find the audio???

very very strange!
 
Hmm... Well... I don´t know why, but now it works with the win95-Comp-Mode...

I hate computers...

Dont't question the reasoning of computers, just injoy it when its in your favor. :)
 
Attempting to Answer the Question

I understand your problem, because I had it myself (Win98 org now xp).

The problem is most likely your joystick. I got WC1 to play with it, but not secret missions. Like you said, after the intro it crashes. Try removing your joystick from the game controllers (in the control panel) and unplugging it. The game should work, though I could not play the secret missions because I could not get used tot the key board.

I hope this helps you because not many other people seem to want to help as much as add in their worthless two cents about stuff. I mean really, what was that person trying to accomplish about the computers hate em but get used to it post. How useless was that!
