the lasari will be the Kilrathi frigate in wc:t. its main role is that of a deep space raider and convoi escort. it is armed with a single heavy tachyon cannon(the ones the ralari has on its wings) and 3 lasers, aswell as a complement of 10 fighter and 2 bombers.

the model is only missing the windows textures yet

Uh, when you say that it's somewhat bigger than a Confed frigate, that sounds like you're going by the Fleet Tactics' size info for the Confed frigate. That's, unfortunately, one of those cases where Fleet Tactics didn't just make up new stuff... but actually went and outright rejected existing information for some reason. The real size listing for the only class of Confed frigates that we know anything about is 620 metres. Frigates in WC are weaker than destroyers, but not smaller.

(though, of course, since we only have stats for one frigate type, we can't be certain that other frigates aren't completely different)

no, it is an original design that i built in lego more than 10 years ago. i agree that it has the klingon neck though

the firagate you are referring to is a wc3 design, quarto. i was talking about wc1 era designs, like the massada

The Caernaven-class is the only frigate ever given specifications in Wing Commander; the Masada is something Fleet Tactics made up and gave specifications which do not seem to match the role of a WC frigate.

so you are saying that in wc, frigates are actually bigger and more powerful than destroyers?(which would be creepy because in my story, i had originally envisioned frigates more powerful, but then dropped it in favor of standard classifications)
btw, wc3 destroyers and cruisers are also way bigger than they were in wc1 and 2 and if fleet tactics really didn't make the length up, it says 320 meters, i guess i'm not that far off

Fleet Tactics made the entire ship up. The only 'real' aspects is that there was a frigate named TCS Masada in Action Stations (which, based on the age, may well have been a Caernaven-class ship in the first place).

Frigates in Wing Commander aren't necessarily more powerful, but they do have a role that requires them to be larger -- they carry a lot of expendable munitions instead of just having laser turrets, and they're often configured as fast armored transports.

It's frigates in WC4 that are always launching CSMs, for instance... and frigates that evacuate Circe VII. In Wing Commander III, Gen. Taggart is transported around in a frigate. They also have FoF missile turrets and can be configured as strike platforms for small groups of fighters. Stuff that requires more storage than a laser/anti-matter gun armed destroyer or cruiser.

you know, bandit, judging by the fact that frigates tend to be bigger and less armed than destroyerrs, the byrd could actually be a frigate, not a corvette

Usually the phrase 'judging by' means taking into account some kind of information.

Everything we know about the Byrd-class comes from a line of dialogue, identifying ships in an episode of Wing Commander Academy as being "Byrd-class recon ships".

Judging by everything we know about the Byrd-class, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that it's class is reconnaissance ship rather than corvette or frigate.

There's nothing in the continuity about their size or their armament. Wherever you read these was making them up (aside from possibly a CIC update, which speculated as to the latter by counting the number of laser turrets seen on the show).
