Sounds like a wierd thing if ya ask me but I had to reinstall Windows XP awhile back. but the game won't work in either Direct 3d or Software mode. only OPEN GL patch, and even with the patch it seems that whenever there is a com messege it slows the comp down. I'm running a 900 MHZ AMD. Also another funny thing is when running Standoff it runs perfect almost too perfect. Any clues? Because if anything I'd rather run Standoffs OPEN GL version. Anybody know of anyway doing that?
 
Where does it fail to load when you try using software/d3d? Z buffer attatch?
The OpenGL patch should be the same as Standoffs version, check you have the latest, and that STAN_OGL.cfg and OpenGL.cfg have the same configuration settings.
 
Well it actually fails to load the program and gives a black screen which is really odd. When using the Open GL patch it runs pretty extremely well when not in a cockpit mode. When Coms come up, certain ships are targeted, or audio from wingman is givin it seems to slow down too much. But when in let's say chse mode or fly by it's perfect nothin no nada. In Standoff nothing is effected. Odd.
 
I'll check on the config settings and set them both to the same but I'll try renaming them from maybe standoffogl.cfg to opengl.cfg and see if that works seeing how standoff works perfect but opengl works to poop.. but all in all a genious move to opengl pedro :D
 
It is worth checking you've got the latest version with the patch. I'm not certain if the version at the CIC is the latest now I think about it, I'll check into that. Might be worth using STAN_OGL dll, just to see if that helps as I specifically included some speed optimisations in the very latest version, which included movie playback.

Worth noting that its all still beta, lots of fixes yet to come, when mario has time he will be integrating it into his enhancement pack.
 
Since you never mentioned it, I need to ask: Did you set the compatability mode for the secretops.exe ?
 
Alright I seemed to try everything but to no avail. One thing I d notice I tried using the Standoff_OGL within the config and worked the same. It runs perfect when scale background "FALSE" but when scale background "TRUE" that seems to be the culprit. Also what is fast scaling and starbox within the config? wn those are true it doesn't seem to have any effect at least not noticeable. I have an Nvidia GeForce FX 5500(AGP) if this helps any? So in other words I'm able to run the game on any resolution......just won't be the right screen size due to the scale background issue. I've tried looking in the nvidia control panel but nothin that might point scaling. Please advize.
 
Scale background = stretch the backgrounds to full screen
Fast scaling = when scaling do so in hardware, i.e. pixels are duplicated and no filtering (smoothing) will be applied.
Starbox = do not draw standard point stars, but instead use a skybox of 1024*1024 of starfields in their place.
 
Ahh I see hmm...The mystery remains :) Yea it only happens when the Scale Background "TRUE" is set to on... Although the whole screen is used. It just slows up oh well I'll just have to play around with it or something, maybe go get a new graphics card or somethin.. Anybody have any recommendations? Currently I have an Geforce 5500 AGP. Funny tho I had a 5500 PCI and it worked better. Go figure I guess. Thanx for the help Pedro :)
