WC Prophecy Problem

Sportwarrior

Spaceman
Hi. I just installed Prophecy for the first time in a couple years and I am having huge problems. When I started the game, the movies went super fast and skipped a ton... it was like a bad fast foward through all the movies. Then when I went into gameplay, the actual gameplay rate was all sped up almost to the point of unplayability, and the software renderer was forced... I couldn't get any 3d rendering to kick in. I remember this happening when I installed WCII on my old 100mhz computer... everything went super fast, as if the computer was too fast for the game. My current specs are:

Windows 98 SE
900 mhz Thunderbird
64 mb Geforce 2 (at least I think its 2)
256 mb RAM
52x CD-ROM...

I just can't figure out what would cause this to happen. Does anyone have any ideas?

First disable Sound Hardware Accelleration in the Multi-media icon in the Control Panel. This should fix the skipping. Which sound card do you have?

Next change the Texel Alignment to 7 in you graphic card setting. Display > Settings Tab > Advances button > Geforce2 Tab > Addition Properties > Direct3D Settings > More Direct3D Settings.

I've got an SB Live! card on that computer... Thanks for the info... I'll be going back to my home tonight so I can try out this stuff... thanks again.

If you are using SBLive Platinum + w/LiveWire 3 and DirectX 8.x you will most likely not be able to stop the skipping. CL's LW3 has compartiblity issues with DirectX 8.x which CL never fix. CL said that DirectX 7.1 is o'kay with LW3.

You could try the new CreativeWare drivers for the Audigy cards. Some users on creative's newsgroup claim they do work with SBLive cards. Do this at your own risk.

I replace my SBLive Platinum with an Audigy card and do not have this problem anymore.
