WC II (ks) ENG --> WC II 5,2" GER ?

Hi,
i bought the kilrathi saga (english version) a few days ago. *me is extremly happy & lucky ;D*
I also own the original 3,5" disks of wc II (german version).
I tried to convert the eng WC II from kilrathi saga to ger WC II 3,5".
Well....it partially works... my only problem is, that everytime a Ä , Ö or Ü is written
the sentence gets cut after this letter.
e.g.
original: Admiral Tolwyns Büro, Sol Station
cut: Admiral Tolwyns B

My question: Can somebody send me the GERMAN wc2.exe and brief.pal from kilrathi saga, because the problem with the letters must have something to do with one of these files (i replaced every file from WC2 (kilrathi saga) with the files from WC2 3,5" ... when i replace the exes then the game runs w/o sound and too fast (naturally ;D) ...when i replace the brief.pal the colors get freaky.

Errr.... naturally i don't need these 2 files if there is a patch for WC2 that converts it to GER ....like the one for Secret Ops :)

and one other thing: belive it or not, but i started to hex-edit all the files with speech and replace all the ä ö and ü with a o and u .... but it's A LOT of work and it doesn't fit very well because ä is not the same as a and you can't write ae instead (the game crashs if you try that...)

I really hope somebody can help me out cause i want to play wc2 at full speed/in german and with remastered soundtrack :)

You've got the German WC2 version? Lucky you ;) - I've got only the English one with German manual (the one that came together with Wc1 + sm1/2 and so1/2).
But is there a German Version of the Kilrathi Saga available anyway? Thought there was only the English one. Guess I hav to search ebay once again ;)
One Qustions: Are the Speech sounds also in German or just the Text?

But back to topic: Sorry, m8 can't help you there. Didn't even knew that there is a German Kilrathi Saga Version or a German WC version... :(

EDIT: Just searched E-Bay and found a German WCII 5.25" Floppy Version. Seems to be without the speech pack :( - Oh well, no need for me to buy it then. - Or is there a German Speech pack available?
 
AFAIK there's no German speech pack.

Hmm, it strikes me weird that you try to get the German versions. I found the translation most time quite awful compared to the original version. :)
 
As I said: If the Speech pack was available in German, too, I might have bought it as well. Already have got the original one in Deluxe Edition and Kilrathi Saga. - And one or two € for the 5.25" Floppy Version wouldn't have been too much either ;)
But back to topic: So I was right in guessing that there isn't a Kilrathi Saga in German available after all.
@BoH_Havoc: So I guess you have got to edit the whole files manually :( - Or if you are lucky, someone else already did and may post here later on ;)
 
As I am still trying to get my hands on any german version of WC2 let me ask a clarifying question:
So there only is WCII German, but no German Speechpack or German SOs?
 
To be honest: I doubt there is a German Speechpack available. I've tried to find it via google and couldn't fin anything. But you can get the 5.25" German WC2 Version at www.ebay.de:

There is currently no bid on that one, so if you are lucky you can get it for 1€ + shipping ;) - But you'll need a 5.25" Floppy drive to be able to use it.
To the German SO: Couldn't find one of those either. :(
But maybe BoH_Havoc can help us to clearly answer this question, cause he has got at least the original German one.
 
No, there is no german speechpack.
SO is in english only,too. (as far as i know ;) )
There is a german version of Kilrathi Saga, but as far as i heard about it it's with english speech and german subs (except WC3...this one is full german).
The reason i want to play WC2 with ger subs is because WC II was one of the first game i have ever played (1st: Prince of persia, 2nd: Freddy (crazy game xD), 3rd Privateer and 4th WC2). When i think of wing commander 2, i always associate it with my happy childhood ,the good old times and...ehrmm....well i always played it in german...it's something personal :)
.... if it isn't in german it's no real wing commander 2 for me (yeah sound strange i know... on the other hand WC 1 had to be in english otherwise it's no real wc1 to me ...and NO I'M NO PSYCHO or something like that ;P )

well.... if nowbody can help me out with these 2 files i think i really have to change it all by hand... but hey! it's for wing commander so it'll be ok :)... but an ü or ue instead of an u would be cool, too :)

I'm going to bid for this package :-), I will tell you, if there is a German Speech Pack coming with.
And yes, I do have installed a 5,25" Disk Drive (brandnew)in my 486-66 Computer, that I'm running just to play games like Priv, WC1&2, Armada, Academy, Strike Commander, X-Wing & Doom.
 
I've got a 5.25" drive, too :) - but no need for me to get that WC2 ;) So good luck in ebaying :D - Guess some more will bid on that one now that I post it here, sry :(

I am still waiting for confirmation on that one, that the IN GAME langue is truely German. I know the picture says so, but pictures can't be trust too much on ebay.
 
Have you emailed the guy who sells it yet and asked whether he has played it and if it is German IN GAME? but maybe he won't reply fast enough. :(

Did anyone of you get it actually? If so, does it include a speech pack or not? I still guess, not, but just want clearance ;)
 
I never got a reply, so I never bid on the item. No reply = dodgy offer for me anyhow.
