WC 4 problems in XP

Again I'll state the problem once more:

I currently bought a new 1.9GHz P4 with a Nvidia Geforce 3 graphics card running windows XP and the Kilrathi Saga runs great, but WC 4 is a different story. When installing the program in DOS, my mouse does not work, the movie test doesn't function and when I finish the installation, the videos don't show up.

Johnl12 suggested using the Win95 upgrade for WC4. I already had this upgrade but the one I have must have WC4 already installed in DOS, IIRC. Since my DOS installation doesn't work, I don't think I could use it just yet. Suggestions?

Which version of WC4 do you have? DOS, Win95 or DVD. For DOS apply the Win95 patch. The Win95 patch will create a Win95 WC4 shortcut on the desktop. Use that one and not the DOS shortcut. For all version use compartblity mode. Try win95 and Win98. See which one works. I was able to get WC4 to run in XP, but my joystick won't work with the game.

Okay, I have the DOS version of WC4 and the Win95 patch. I'll try tinkering with the upgrade (I thought the patch only allowed you to run WC4 in a windows environment, I didn't think it did anything else. From what has been said here in the support chat though, it seems it actually fixes some problems).

Also your talking about compatibilty modes again. This is something I've never come across (I'm not an avid gamer, just the WC's). Compatibility of what? What peice of hardware do I need to switch to a Win95/98 compatibility mode? SOund card? Graphics card? Entire computer? And as you can tell, I don't know how to set the mode so a little walk through would also be very helpful.

I changed teh compatibility to WIn 95 on the upgrade and WC4 is up and Running! thanks for all your help guys
