WC 4 DVD video Problems

good day friends!

i hope i don't piss anyone off (because there is an answer within the forum somewhere), but i have a quastion about a video problem of mine. This time it's about Wing Commander 4 DVD Editon - not Prophecy!

First the game does not working anyway, but after install the "without DxR board" patch by Gulikoza, i could watch the intro.

Unfortunately after the first Disicion about to help the TCSLiberty guy or not, the video runs further too fast until it stoped and the game broke down.

i have win 98 se, soundblaster live and a nvida Geforce3 Ti 200 card.
And i already turn the acceleration in dxdiag off!

What can i do?

Did you try the most recent version of the patch? http://home.amis.net/lkslavi/dxmci12.zip I believe the one at the CIC is still 1.0. There are also two versions of fixes at his website for the two builds of the game that you might try.

I have experimented around much and ... .... it works!

The picture and the tone run synchronously and I wanted to play the first mission, but ....

The game falls away after Maniac has only some couple of words.

I guess your effort and don't want to irritate you, however, do you have another suggestion for me?

The patch was not extensively tested in win98 since it was targeted for win xp. It's possible something is broken . The other alternative is to find an older windvd version (2.1) and run without the patch since it has real MCI drivers.

Most of the problems come from different mpeg2 splitters & decoders since it seems they work differently. I did the most testing with mpeg2dec but I believe it does not work in win98. PowerDVD filters for example will almost always crash...There is unfortunately no way to select (or see) which filter the patch uses. The best solution would be to have an integrated mpeg2 decoder (like media player classic does) but I haven't got around to coding it....
