WC 4 DVD: shivering videos

Triple-B

Rear Admiral
i have recently installed wing 4 dvd and experienced "shivering videoclips", same thing goes for prophecy dvd.

in order to solve this problem, i decreased the hardware graphics speed of my graphic card. it worked fine for prophecy and for wing 4.

the problem is, that i get a black screen in wing 4, when accessing the options menu or the short mission briefing ( screen before starting a misson). increasing the hardware speed fixes the problem in wing4, but then i experience the shivering viedeos again.

anybody knows a solution for that?

This is the DVD version with the mpeg2 videos? Did you possibly toy with telling a directx filter of some sort to deinterlace DVDs on the fly? If it was doing this in the wrong field order that could explain the shaking, but not why adjusting the hardware acceleration would affect it.

What kind of video card are you using? Are there hardware settings you may have played with?

its the dvd version which camed in a bundle with some sort of soundcard.

no i have not toyed around with the setting. max. hardware acceleration was set by default.

lowering the speed makes the vids stable, but the optionsmenuscreen is black..

i am using the geforce 8800 gt

To be clear, this is the double sided DVD of WC4 that we're talking about, right? The card it was bundled with is not a soundcard. That would be an MPEG2 decoder card. It's not necessary for the DVD now since CPUs are fast enough to decode DVD video.

If you are indeed using the wc4 DVD patch (to make it work without the decoder card) which version of the patch are you using? Have you experimented with other versions of the Patch?

correct, it is the double sides dvd version.

i am using the version1.2 from those Wcnews filedownloads and I have not tried the version 1.0 yet, should I overwrite?

Try giving the newest version a shot (which isn't in the CIC files...) First, download mpeg.dll into your WC4 directory and overwrite if necessary. Then download and unzip into the WC4 directory version 1.5 of the patch or ver 1.3. those versions also have an internal compatability setting in the dxmci.dll that can be adjusted to try and alleviate some issues.

If after that you get an "entry point not found" error, overwrite the mpeg2.dll with this alternate version.

If you still have issues after that, try unzipping mpeg2dec into your WC4 directory and then run register.bat

I had same shaking video issue in WC Prophecy.

I changed 'prophecy.exe' and 'launcher.exe' to run in win 98 compatibility mode and that fixed it.
