Virtual PC 2007

Has anyone gotten this to work? I am trying to install a Windows 95 operating system on virtual PC, but I can't seem to get it to think I have a cd in the drive. Microsoft "tech support" has not been much help. Any ideas?

It's been years since I've done a Windows 95 install... is the Windows 95 CD bootable or will it require a boot floppy?

Before starting up the virtual machine, you'll need to configure it to use either an ISO image or a physical optical drive as the CDROM drive. It's the same principle as mounting a drive in DOSBox.

Thanks for the help. As far as I can tell, the CD disk is bootable. I also have some windows 95 ISO boot files, but I can't figure out how to make those work correctly.

How do I go about making it use the physical CD drive? I've tried a few things, but none have seemed to work yet.

Once again, thanks, Mincemeat. I appreciate your time and effort in my behalf.

Now that I got my VirtualPC application with me:

Open up Virtual PC
Select the virtual machine you wanted to install Windows into
Click on the "settings" button on the right.

You'll see the settings pertaining to the CD/DVD drive. Try experimenting with the different settings there.

Once you start your virtual machine, you can optionally use an ISO image if you go to the "CD" menu and choose Capture ISO Image.

If you need to send a CTRL+ALT+DEL keystroke to the virtual machine, use the right-hand-side ALT + DEL (or choose from the Action menu)

Hope it helps...
