Video glitches in WCP

I recently installed wing commander prophecy on my Dell xps T700r with Windows 98 Se, 256meg ram, a SB live value sound card, and Voodoo 3 video card. The game ran fine on my old P233MX with W95 B, 128 meg ram, a SB16 sound card and Voodoo Banshee video card and I had hoped it would do the same on the newer machine. The game appears to run great, it's just that the live action video scenes stutter, that is they jump ahead a few frames and a word or two! This happens randomly every few seconds or so. So I can fly the missions and use the flight simulator, but the story line is screwed up I can't follow it! Please Help!
 
For SBLive cards:
When the movie plays and it seems to be playing too fast and skipping, try disabling "Sound Hardware Acceleration".
Control Panel>Multimedia>Advance button>Properties
Also do a find file for "DXDiag" and disable it here too. Remember to re-enable it for other games.

If your OS is Win2000 then get the Sound Blaster Live! Drivers Update "lw3drv.exe" Revision: SBLW-2KDRV-W1-US Date: 7/11/00 Size: 4.12 MB
 
No, don't try Directx 8 if you don't already have it. There are issues between LW3 and directx 8. If you have these two programs install on your machine you will most likely not be able to play this game.
 
Thanks John12! WCP now runs fine! Will the updated drivers you mentioned solve my DX problem so I don't have to toggel my sound ex on and off? I have W98SE with DirectX 8 installed.

No it wont. The sblw9xup.exe only fix some of the issues between LiveWire 3 and DirectX 8. If you are not using LiveWire 3 you don't need this patch. Since the WCP movies are playing correctly for you I would suggest you do nothing more. If it ain't broken don't fix it! ;) If you are not using LW3 don't get it.
