Video card compatability in WC Prophecy Gold

I just installed WC Prophecy Gold and noticed it doesn't support NVidia cards. I also notice that where it says what video card it detected was a 2MB PCI video card ( I guess this is the something that came with my motherboard or some kind of default video card ). So after it was installed I went to select my video card from a drop down list and it gave me 2 options...

1) Software
2) Direct3D

So I selected Direct3D figuring that should be better than software. My question is by selecting Direct3D, did that make it so Prophecy will use my NVidia GeForce 2 card? If not, then will it make a big difference in the game graphics using that 2MB video card thing than a Voodoo card?

As long as you can see the game, it's using your NVidea card It doesn't know what to call it, because they didn't make them back when Prophecy came out -- so it just uses the 'default' video card name (2 meg PCI card). Select Direct3D, this will be the best graphics for the game you can get.

Yes. Prophecy needs at least a 4Mb video card, so if selecting D3D mode doesn't crash your system then it has to be using one with at least that ammount of memory.

Prophecy lies. It actually works with less than 4 megs... although that's really not a problem in this case.
