Do you have the WC4 Win95 patch?
did you enable the VESA and low level CD-ROM support?
Here's an e-mail someone sent me that helped me out with the settings. Though I can't get the inflight music to play properly still.
For the settings then:
GENERAL:
Enable expanded memory (EMS)
Enable low-level CD-ROM support (MSCDEX)
MIDI Emulation - Roland MT-32, LAPC-1 or CM-64 (for the music)
Joystick Emulation - Other (note: I had trouble choosing the 'Other' option - you might want to download and install the alternate joystick routines patch for WC3 off wcnews.com. Once I installed that, 'Other' was already chosen, and all was good.
ADVANCED:
Compatibility:
Enable expanded memory (EMS) 16384 kB
Enable extended memory (XMS) 16384 kB
Enable DPMI support (DOSX)
Enable CLI-POPF workaround
Enable low-level CD-ROM support (MSCDEX)
DOS Environment:
Load HIMEM.SYS
Allow DOS to use UMBs
Addition options: FILES=40 (for config.sys)
Joystick:
Enable Joystick (Gameport) emulation (if you have a joystick)
Soundblaster:
Enable Soundblaster Emulation: Base Port 0x220, IRQ5, 8-bit DMA 1, 16-bit DMA 5, DSP Ver 1.05
(SoundBlaster 1.x)
Dev: Microsoft Sound Mapper (Wave)
[some comments regarding the soundblaster - it shouldn't matter which DMA, IRQ, Baseport are
chosen, AS LONG as they correspond to the settings chosen in the WC3 install program. The
Microsoft Sound Mapper (Wave) device was chosen, as all the other devices, for me at least,
lagged when playing movies. Choosing the SoundBlaster 1.x was the ONLY option that eliminated
(for the most part) the clicking and stuttering noises when playing back digital FX.]
Adlib: NOT ENABLED
Enable MIDI (MPU-401) emulation:
Base Port 0x330, IRQ 2
[again, as long as these correspond to what you choose in the WC3 install, it should all be
good.]
Dev: Microsoft MIDI Mapper (MIDI)
just be sure the soundblaster settings match the ones you chose in the install.
