Vampire-C Cloak

IceWolf

Spaceman

This is an idea i've been messing with for a couple months.

TCIS has created a prototype for a new cloaking device called the Wraith. It is Kilrathi based so the ship is unseen to scanners and eyes. The wraith is less power hungry, which lets a fighter keep its weapons armed for a quick fade-in-fade out attack. It is also smaller, so missiles do not need to be removed. The first models were mounted on the F-109S Vampires of the VFA-179 Marauders. The Vampires are now designated "Vampire-C's" and are currently field testing the device.

Any thoughts?

(And i know the grammer and spelling isn't all correct but oh well)

He's a newbie from the Aces.

Trey Jordan you idiot, if you don't want to repeat the same "colorful" welcome you got in the Aces, then keep your mouth shut here.

Same words go for you, psych. Be nice to the company.

I'm trying to save him some grief man. I reamed him a new one on the Aces board for a while to set him straight and he got his act together over there. I don't want to do it again over here.

Give the guy a break, Christ On A Crutch. We put up with your act enough as is. Lets give him a chance on here to see what he has to say.

If that's what you want, to give him a chance, that's no problem with me. But if he posts more stupid ideas like he did on the other board, I'm gonna put a bullseye on him and declare it open season.

The bullseye is not your choice to make. We'll leave that to the community at large or the mods.

Not a problem man. I just ask that if others in the community get frustrated at something he posts (kinda like our superpolymer guy), I get to be let out of my cage and join in :)

You're your own person. No one (Mod) will yank the leash if your within tolerance or reason.

He does need to be politely corrected, though.

- The standard Confederation cloaking device is the Blackfish-class. Unlike the Shroud-class, used in Wing Commander 3, the Blackfish renders a fighter invisible to both eyes and sensors.

- It is generally believed that modern Confederation fighters mount cloaking devices as a matter of course. Nephilim technology renders current cloaking technology ineffective. It's also worth noting that you're not going to fool local races, either - Confed developed two methods of anti-cloaking technology in the late sixties... the advanced optics mounted in the Lance-class and the "anti cloaking gun", which was tested just before the end of the war.

- To the best of my knowledge, there is no "less missile' requirement for cloaked ships... nor do cloaked ships (with the occasional exception of the Kilrathi Shok'lar class) come out of cloak with a reduced amount of energy. The idea is that ships lock their missiles/guns/bombsights, decloak and fire, and then recloak.

- As designing new technology goes, "mine is better than the old one, with none of the downsides (no matter how imagined they are in this case)" isn't really the way to go - no one will respect that, unless you have a good reason why and how.
