Uru...

I got the new Myst game a few days ago called Uru. I don't know if anyone of you ever got into Myst or Riven and whatnot. But anyway, at first I wasn't so sure if I liked this game. The way you move in it is kind of hard to get used to. But after I got it down pretty good my enjoyment of this game started gradually increasing. And last night I just beat one of the Ages and I think now it's a really amazing game.

The sound and music is really cool. And the graphics to me are just incredible. In the typical Myst fashion, there are people's journals and notes scattered throughout places that helps reveal the storyline.

And this game is just huge! There are so many different ages to go to and you can spend so much time figuring stuff out. You can change the view from 1st to 3rd person which is kind of nice too. You also create an avatar which is your character that you will guide through the game.

This is all so far just from the single player game. I haven't even had a chance to play the online version of it. I hear in the Live version there are more tools to customize your character and that Ages are often being added and whatnot. I still have yet to figure out how the Live version works.

But at any rate, I am really enjoying this game and would recommend it to anyone who likes an immersive puzzle solver with a cool creepy ambiance.

Later!

Is there a soundtrack for Uru? They've had them for Myst, Riven, and Exile, but I haven't heard anything about a soundtrack for this one.

Yes

I believe there is a soundtrack. And I think you can order it from cyanworlds.com. I also have the soundtracks for the other three games.

So that's where you've been lately! I was starting to wonder where you'd gotten yourself. Anyway I want to see this game sometime too. The next time I see you I'm bringing blank CD's, I want that B-sides and possibly those Myst/Riven soundtracks you've got.

I swear I read somewhere that they dropped the online option for it, I might be wrong though so I'll look at that again. Of course if you figure it out that would prove me wrong... At any rate I hope it's still got the online option.

On a side note I just beat Morrowind a few hours ago!

Live version...

Actually you're right. I just read not very long ago that they did cancel the live version. Apparently they didn't have enough subscribers to support it. I wonder if they gave it much of a chance, but after careful consideration, I can see why such a thing wouldn't have worked for Uru. They did however decide to release expansion sets for the game. So that's good.

Just beat Morrowind huh? That's cool. I'm on Bloodmoon right now. The ending to Tribunal was really awesome.

You do realize Greg that you can edit your posts so you don't have to double post? (it's kind of protocol to edit instead of make an entirely new post)

Anyway, what is Uru about? Is it just like a continuation of the origional stories? I kind of wonder how they were able to make another installment in the series.

[edit: whoa, I just noticed the edit button disapeers after a while, which is kind of strange...]

The edit function is on a timer for non-mods/admins. For that, you can thank the fine folks who went shooting off their mouths, then tried to edit away responsibility for their posts.

Perhaps...

Or maybe the edit function is just to correct grammar, spelling, or punctuation. That's also what it could be for. Bang! Bang! Bang!

In a perfect world, that's all the edit function would be used for. There would also be no need for more than one forum administrator (to handle technical issues), and no need for moderators.

However, it's an imperfect world.
