So we changed the default thread order to oldest first, like on most other boards.

With VB3, thread order is finally a user option. Am I the only one who still browses "reversed", most recent post at the top?

(To set your thread order, go to user cp (top right corner of every page), then Options and choose Linear - Oldest first or Linear - Newest first)

No, you're definitely not the only one. I've always felt the old order is more convenient, it was just a matter of getting used to it first.

I use the old reversed thing.

But what makes me cry is that the quote, edit, etc buttons are in the lower part of the post not above like the old one.

Well, I quickly changed my settings back to newest first for one simple reason... multi-page threads aren't shown in the thread list!

It's annoying to have to click on a thread, scroll to the bottom and click on the last page to get to the last posts. Most other forums list the pages out beside the thread subject so you can click to get to an individual page immediately.

I prefer oldest first, but with the ability to quickly get to the last page... (heck, there's no page index at the top, to save a scroll operation...).

(Although, I miss the nice titles and what not we used to have...).

Oddly enough though, every other site using vB doesn't have this issue. Dunno if it's a hack that has to be applied (like the nice "quick reply" hack that puts a reply box on the same page as the thread).

Plus, you sorta get used to the fact that this forum was quirky and doesn't act like other forums, so...

At 1st I didn't like it but I quickly got used to it. Plus, since I'm registered, it makes it easy to get to the lastest posts. So, the old way of post line-up.

We haven't really finalized the layout yet.. yesterday the main concern was just to get the board back up as quickly as possible so that we could go watch anime.

Having the oldest post on the first page of the thread just feels odd for the CIC. It may be the way everyother forum I'm a member of uses (and I'm quite used to it there), but here, it just doesn't seem right

I like oldest first, but I'll be happy with whatever the majority vote for

If you read Kris' post, he explains how users can now customize it either way.

The new setup is hard to get used to for me for some reason. It seems that the old layout of buttons was much more intuitive. (did I spell that right?)

Edit: Oh yeah, and does my avatar have to display my rank and picture? Or can it just be the picture. It looks kinda funny to me.

We'll get around to fixing little things like that when we're done tarballing our proftpd config and whatnot. :)

That extracts the tarball :).

As for the board, let's say things are much easier to use now than they were yesterday - pretty damn good!

Maybe add the "Quick Reply" box and things would be perfect :).

OTOH, the text tags are all the wrong color - black-on-dark-grey is just plain hard to see :). But it's just another minor thing, really.

You guys do a great job!

Well... I have been getting used old settings of having the older post last... but when things get a bit too much, I just go to the 'printable view' mode and have it display all pages and see the older posts go first!

Since I travel a lot (and in some places I can't connect to the Internet :( ), I don't check what happened regularly. That's why I prefer the "older first" order. It's more natural to read this way. ;)
