Wha? That's really not what happened at all, though... lengths have been consistant, as have masses. It's more that the people writing the documentation are in the US, and don't appear to understand the length of a meter. The lengths are all things that are more reasonable if assumed to be feet. Never the less, they are what they're written to be. I'm also confused about how Prophecy is 'totally screwed up'.
